Karel Camrda

Karel Camrda (born October 26, 1964 in Tábor ) is a former Czech cyclist and world champion in cycling .

Athletic career

In 1988 he won the UCI World Championships in cyclo-cross racing, ahead of Roger Honegger from Switzerland . He was nominated for the race at short notice on site (he was initially a substitute driver) because the heavy ground suited his running skills. As an amateur he started for the RH Plzen club .

In 1990 he switched to professional drivers . In this category he won silver at the 1992 World Championships in Leeds behind the winner Mike Kluge . He won the national title in 1989 and was on the podium several times at the Czech championships. From 1988 to 1993 he competed regularly in the World Cup.

Familiar

His brother Pavel Camrda (* 1968) also took part in the world championship.

Honors

In 1992 he was the winner of the annual survey of the Král cyklistiky ( cycling king ) of the Československý svaz cyklistiky cycling association .
