Fritz Saladin

Fritz Saladin (* 17th November 1950 in St. Pantaleon ) is a former Switzerland he cyclist and world champion in cycling .

Athletic career

He began his sporting career in athletics . After he switched to cycling after the recruit school , he joined the club VC Binningen . Saladin was a specialist in cyclo-cross racing . In 1972 he increasingly competed in road races , but from 1976 he concentrated entirely on cross-country races . In this discipline of cycling he achieved his greatest success when he became world champion of the amateurs in Wetzikon in 1980 . In 1982 he also won the title at the Swiss national championships. From 1976 to 1983 he won three bronze medals.

Professional

Saladin trained as a bricklayer .
