The Knappenberg show mine is an inheritance tunnel and a tourist attraction in the municipality of Hüttenberg (Carinthia) .

Mining in Knappenberg was shut down in 1978. The show mine was opened two years later . The work of miners “underground” is illustrated in the 900 m long tunnel dating from 1567 . The mining methods , the simple tools, the mining technology and the ore extraction are explained during guided tours .

The connected mining museum documents the life and work of the miners, and a mineral exhibition presents over 200 types of mineral .

The mining museum (former pit house and mouth hole of the Erbstollen) is a listed building , as are numerous other mining objects in Knappenberg, such as parts of the Barbarasiedlung and the Barbarakirche .
