The Scheidt & Bachmann GmbH is a German family in the fifth generation in Mönchengladbach . The company has four business areas and is represented internationally with 25 subsidiaries and numerous partners in more than 50 countries. In the business areas Parking Solutions, Systems for Petrol Stations, Systems for Fare Management and Systems for Signaling Technology, Scheidt & Bachmann develops system solutions for mobility purposes worldwide, such as ID-based ticketing or parking systems with license plate recognition. The company has three production facilities in which all products are manufactured in-house.

Company history

Scheidt & Bachmann was founded as a general partnership in 1872 by the businessman Friedrich Scheidt and the engineer Carl Bachmann . In the first years textile machines, transmissions and small steam engines were manufactured. Just three years after the company was founded, production was switched to mechanical signaling systems due to the expansion of means of transport, so that the first division was created.

In 1896 the company received its first patent for a "drive device for path barriers".

In 1914, the company moved to a larger factory site in Rheydt , today's district of Mönchengladbach .

In 1932 Scheidt & Bachmann took advantage of the favorable market situation and began manufacturing tank systems, which resulted in a further division of the company.

In 1936 Scheidt & Bachmann was transformed from a general partnership into a stock corporation, which in turn was transformed into a limited liability company in 1963.

During the Second World War , the main factory was almost completely destroyed, so that reconstruction began after the war.

In 1966 Scheidt & Bachmann started designing and manufacturing systems for parking facilities. At the same time, the company used the newly introduced microprocessor technology and was one of the first companies in Europe to integrate this technology in automated systems.

Eight years later, the business area was expanded to include systems for leisure facilities.

In 1978, a further division, fare management systems, was founded.

Scheidt & Bachmann has increasingly become a system supplier of intelligent mobility over the years and increased its market share thanks to the broad product portfolio of innovations and high-quality hardware and software products. As a result, Scheidt & Bachmann expanded in the 1990s, so that the first subsidiaries were established in the USA and Slovakia. As a result, numerous subsidiaries were founded around the world over the decades.

In particular due to the high demand for service concepts and the ever more extensive systems, the service area developed as a new line of business.

The company holds around 1050 patents.
