The Schiaccia briaca ( Italian for "drunken flatbread") is a typical Christmas biscuit for the farmer's kitchen (cucina povera) on the Tuscan island of Elba .

The Schiaccia briaca is a pastry made from heavy yeast dough , contains nuts and sultanas and is sprinkled with pine nuts . The cake gets its name, the slightly sour taste and the typical rosy color from Aleatico , a dessert wine , and Alchermes , a liqueur .
