Community of fate

A community of fate is a group of people who are exposed to a common fate , e.g. B. a risky or dangerous situation .

Examples of this are castaways , hostages or people trapped in a mine . Sometimes a special community of fate develops between hostages and their hostage-takers, which can lead to Stockholm Syndrome .

Especially during the time of National Socialism , the term “ people ” was often described as a community of fate.

The term is - like the expressions "blood community", " national community " and "blood and fate community" - a catchphrase that is often used in the ideology and language of National Socialism .

Other peoples, such as the Jewish people, are often portrayed as a community of fate.

Immigration and community of fate

The CDU politician Volker Kauder demanded of immigrants in Germany shortly after the Berlinintegration summit ” of the German federal government in July 2006: “Whoever wants to become German must also admit to the German community of fate and thus to German history.”

Euro crisis

In connection with the euro crisis which was EUR - Monetary Union repeated by various politicians, including Angela Merkel , referred to as "common destiny".
