Schierker Feuerstein is a herbal liqueur (semi-bitter with 35 percent alcohol by volume) whose recipe was developed at the beginning of the 20th century by Willy Drube , the then owner of the pharmacy "Zum Roten Fingerhut" in Schierke in the Harz region , and a patent was applied for in 1924. It is named because of its red-brown color after the reddish color of the granite of the flint cliffs , a rock formation in Schierke.

Company premises in Bad Lauterberg

After the death of Willy Drube in 1952 and the relocation of his descendants to the Federal Republic of Germany , production was continued in Bad Lauterberg in Lower Saxony . At the same time, however, the "war recipe" continued to be bottled in Schierke. This is a changed recipe because not all herbs were available during WWII . 1972 remaining in Schierke company was in the GDR expropriated and as a state-owned enterprise Schierker Feuerstein the drinks Kombinat Magdeburg added.

After the reunification of Germany in 1990, the company in Schierke was privatized as Schierker Feuerstein KG and production was continued in both Bad Lauterberg and Schierke. In 2007, in the course of the generation change, the company was transformed into Schierker Feuerstein GmbH & Co. KG .
