The stone ship of Slättaröd in Västra Karup is on Skåne Peninsula Bjärehalvön in Sweden . Like the settlement in Lugnaro in Halland , 25 km away , it was originally covered by a hill.

The ship was built from regularly laid stones, 11.5 m long and 4 m wide. The grave consisted of a pit in the middle of the stone setting, which was filled with burned bones (of humans, dogs, horses and sheep). Cremation graves of this type occur at the transition to the Iron Age .

The pit contained no bronze objects, but six fire damaged arrowheads from flint . Some were of the leaf-shaped, concave-based type that is characteristic of the late Neolithic period. The ship setting at Slättaröd does not belong to this time. The shape of the ship and the cremation grave make it possible to date it to the end of the Bronze Age (around 700 BC). This provides further evidence that the special arrowhead shape was made and used during the Bronze Age, which is confirmed by other settlement and grave finds in Skåne.
