The AOK Rheinland-Pfalz / Saarland - Die Gesundheitskasse (AOK RLP / SL) is a general local health insurance fund for the states of Rhineland-Palatinate and Saarland . As a health and long-term care insurance fund , it is a public corporation . It was created on March 1, 2012 through the merger between AOK Saarland and AOK Rhineland-Palatinate.

General

The headquarters of the AOK Rhineland-Palatinate / Saarland is the head office in Eisenberg , Palatinate , where the education center is also located. AOK Rheinland-Pfalz / Saarland is the largest health insurance company in southwest Germany with around 1.2 million insured persons, 3,600 employees and 49 customer centers. In addition to the 49 customer centers, AOK Rhineland-Palatinate / Saarland also offers over 400 employee service points and a full-time field service for customer care close to home.

history

At the beginning of 2012, the original AOK Rhineland-Palatinate had around 100 branches in total, spread over 25 regions. At the beginning of 2012, in addition to 720,000 members, around 280,000 family members were also insured, which means that at that time it looked after almost a million insured persons. At that time it held a market share of 25%. The budget volume of the original AOK Rhineland-Palatinate was around 3.7 billion euros in 2013 and it employed around 2,500 people before the AOK Saarland started working.

On March 1, 2012, AOK Rheinland-Pfalz merged with AOK Saarland, with the new name AOK Rheinland-Pfalz / Saarland.

On January 1, 2014, the long-standing CEO, Walter Bockemühl, handed over his office to Irmgard Stippler.

Since February 1, 2016, the AOK Rhineland-Palatinate / Saarland has been offering an internet office under the name “Meine AOK”, where insured persons can request forms and applications online.

Martina Niemeyer was appointed as the new CEO on April 1, 2018. The doctor of astrophysics takes over the office of Irmgard Stippler, who changes to the board of the AOK Bayern.

Initial and continuing education

The AOK operates an education center (BiZ) in Eisenberg.

In addition to training as a social security clerk (SoFa), training as a businessman for dialogue marketing (KfD) is also possible there, although the training occupation is currently not offered. After successfully completing training as a social security assistant and having professional experience, there is also the option of completing an internal course of study to become a health insurance specialist (KKFW) and AOK business economist (AOK BW). In addition, the AOK is a partner of the Ludwigshafen am Rhein University of Applied Sciences for the dual study program “Health Economics in the Practice Group (GiP)”.

Additional benefits and premium refunds

The AOK Rhineland-Palatinate / Saarland offers its own additional health insurance to be paid , e.g. B. for stays abroad or dentures. Until December 31, 2012, the AOK Rhineland-Palatinate cooperated in the area of private supplementary health insurance with the DKV Deutsche Krankenversicherung . In addition to supplementary insurance, the AOK Rheinland-Pfalz / Saarland also offers a bonus program with annual premium refunds.

The AOK Rheinland-Pfalz / Saarland offers numerous additional services such as B. Osteopathy (alternative medicine) for adults, travel vaccinations, early detection of skin cancer under the age of 35, additional benefits during pregnancy and childbirth.

Board of Directors

Since January 2009, the AOK board of directors has consisted of insured and half employer representatives (equal representation). Alternating chairmen of the board of directors were Willi Kuhn (employer representative) and Dietmar Muscheid (insurance representative). The composition of the board of directors was decided every six years in a social election . The social elections took place on March 1, 2012.

Contribution rates

From 2009 to 2014, the contribution rates were uniformly prescribed by the legislator. The AOK Rheinland / Pfalz-Saarland refrained from charging additional contributions during this period. Since January 1, 2019, it has been charging an income-related additional contribution of 0.9 percent of the contributory income (national average).
