Dietmar Muscheid (born March 2, 1957 in Neuwied ) is a German trade union official . He is state chairman of the German Federation of Trade Unions (DGB) Rhineland-Palatinate and chairman of the DGB district Rhineland-Palatinate / Saarland .

Life

Muscheid was a trainee from 1973 to 1980 and later a civil servant in the middle service at the Neuwied tax office .

In 1974 Muscheid became a member of the district youth committee of the district administration of the public services, transport and traffic union (ÖTV) in Koblenz. In 1975 he worked in the educational work of the ÖTV trade union. Muscheid was elected chairman of the district youth committee and member of the district youth committee in 1976; in the same year he became a member of the district executive committee.

In 1980 Muscheid took up a position as trade union secretary in the ÖTV district administration in Worms and in this function moved to the ÖTV district administration in Rhineland-Palatinate in 1984. In 1988 he was elected deputy district chairman and in 1993 he was elected district chairman of the ÖTV. Dietmar Muscheid was re-elected in this office in 1996 and 2000.

On December 8, 2001 Dietmar Muscheid was elected DGB state chairman for Rhineland-Palatinate; on February 16, 2002, he was also elected chairman of the DGB District West (now DGB District Rhineland-Palatinate / Saarland). Muscheid has held both offices since then. Dietmar Muscheid was last confirmed as DGB district chairman on December 7, 2017.

Dietmar Muscheid is a member of the SWR Broadcasting Council and the University Board of Trustees of Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz . He has been a member of the SPD since 1974 . Dietmar Muscheid was a member of the 12th, 13th, 14th and 15th Federal Assemblies for the election of the Federal President.
