The the health insurance company for Saxony and Thuringia - AOK Plus : (own spelling AOK PLUS is a carrier of) public health insurance from the group of general local health insurance and nursing care insurance for the countries of Saxony and Thuringia .

The headquarters of AOK Plus is based in Dresden . It has more than 140 branches in Saxony and Thuringia. Around 7,000 employees look after the more than 3 million insured persons. The budget volume of the health insurance fund was around 11.1 billion euros in 2017.

history

On January 1, 2008, AOK Sachsen and AOK Thuringia merged to form AOK Plus. AOK Plus intended to merge with AOK Hessen on January 1, 2011 . However, the AOK Plus board of directors ended the merger negotiations in November 2010.

Contribution rates

Since January 1, 2009 the contribution rates have been standardized by the legislator. As of January 1, 2017, AOK Plus will levy an income-related additional contribution of 0.6 percent of the contributory income.

The Allgemeine Ortskrankenkasse (AOK) Sachsen was a Allgemeine Ortskrankenkasse that existed from 1997 to 2007 and was based in Dresden. It was created on January 1, 1997 from the merger of the AOK Dresden, the AOK Chemnitz, the AOK Leipzig and the State Association of Saxony. Through the merger with the AOK Thuringia on January 1st, 2008, it became part of the AOK Plus.

Board of Directors

The AOK Board of Directors consists of insured and half employer representatives (equal representation). Alternating chairmen of the board of directors are Sven Nobereit (employer representative) and Iris Kloppich (insurance representative).

The composition of the Board of Directors is decided every six years in the social elections .
