The AOK Nordost - Die Gesundheitskasse is the general local health insurance fund for Berlin , Brandenburg and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania , based in Potsdam . It is part of the statutory health insurance in Germany and, with over 1.8 million insured, the largest statutory health insurance in north-eastern Germany. It is also one of the top 10 statutory health insurers in Germany.

history

The AOK Northeast was January 1, 2011 through the merger of AOK Berlin-Brandenburg and the AOK Mecklenburg-Vorpommern . It is a public corporation with self-administration.

Contribution rates

Since January 1, 2009 the contribution rates have been standardized by the legislator. It levies an additional contribution of 0.9 percent of the contributory income.
