Ammer Gorge with Schleierfalls

The Schleierfälle are a waterfall in the Ammer Gorge in Bavaria . They are classified as Geotop and stand as a natural monument under conservation .

location

The falls are on the left bank of the Ammer Gorge on the border between the communities of Wildsteig in the Weilheim-Schongau district and Bad Bayersoien in the Garmisch-Partenkirchen district , about 1.5 kilometers north of the Scheibum , the rock breakthrough where the Ammer enters the Ammer Gorge .

description

The falls are created by a stream that rises on the high bank and falls down the slope of the Ammer Gorge. In the course of time, he has deposited a tufa-lime balcony on the edge of the slope, overgrown with moss. The moss separates the falling water into individual strands, so that a water veil is created.

At the northern edge of the Schleier Falls is the (artificially extended) entrance to a tufa cave.

tourism

The Schleierfalls are a rare natural spectacle that attracts many visitors. To protect the cases, an entry ban was issued, but this is largely ignored. There are plans to block access to the falls and a viewing platform on the opposite side of the gorge.
