A Kreier (also Wattschlitten , Schlickschlitten or Schlickrutscher ) is a sled-like vehicle made of wood . Fishermen used to take him to the mudflats to their traps and transport their catch on the vehicle back to the mainland.

The picture below left shows the means of transport used by a trap fisherman - a dog sled.

In the country of Wursten near Duhnen , Erhard Djuren is one of the last to practice this craft. His creator is drawn from three Labrador mongrels (mustard dogs) that Erhard Djuren breeds himself.

Creators are made of wood and consist of a sled-like substructure with a structure that you can hold on to while kneeling or standing. The driver kneels with one leg on the sled, with the other he pushes himself off the ground, similar to driving a scooter.

While in earlier times mudflat fishermen used sledges to get to their traps and transport their catch, today the vehicles are almost exclusively used as sports equipment at competitions. The annual Kreierrennen of Pilsum and Pogum in East Friesland has achieved national awareness.

The term “ slippery slide” for boats or ships derived from these means of locomotion is to be understood the more derogatory, the larger the so-called watercraft.
