The Bad Köstritz castle stood in the country town of Bad Köstritz in the district of Greiz in Thuringia .

history

In 1687, the palace building was built in the Renaissance style as a Köstritz residence on the fire site of the Lower Knight Manor of Heinrich I. Reuss von Köstritz . In 1704 the four-wing construction was completed. Count Heinrich XXIV used it as a permanent residence. In 1830, the Princely Brewery was set up in the western palace complex and brewed beer until 1908. In 1972 the actual castle building was torn down.

The castle portal with tower and the sundial in the inner courtyard were preserved.

In 1995 the castle hotel was built in place of the old castle.
