history

The moated castle was founded in the 12th century and first mentioned in 1284 as the "episcopal court" owned by the bishops of the diocese of Naumburg .

In 1349 the Lords of Koeckeritz sat on the moated castle, with which the Lords of Pflugk were enfeoffed in 1395 . This family owned the castle until after 1720.

In 1587 it was first described as a moated castle, the inventory of which lists a mortar and a powder chamber, and in 1705/1706 there are first images.

In 1780 the castle was sold to the royal Saxon chamberlain von Weissenbach .

In 1945 at the end of the Second World War , the castle was abandoned by its owner, served for a short time as accommodation for refugees and resettlers and was demolished in 1946, used as a quarry and then leveled.

The castle was formerly a solid, rectangular building surrounded by walls and moats and was later given a more modern design. The castle stable shows no remains and is now a ground monument .
