Frauenhain is a district of the municipality Röderaue north of Großenhain in the northern Saxon district of Meißen . With about 1200 inhabitants it is the administrative seat of the municipality.

Frauenhain is the largest district of Röderau and the seat of the municipal administration. The place is surrounded by many ponds such as the Mittelteich , the Schlossteich and the Schäferteich and is traversed by the Großer Röder . The state road 90 from Gröditz to the federal road 101 and the district road 8582 lead through Frauenhain. Frauenhain has a stop on the Berlin – Dresden railway line .
history
Local history
Frauenhain was first mentioned in 1228 as a villa and in 1350 as a castrum . The street green village on Gewannflur had a district Lautendorf and in 1548 it belonged to the Grossenhain office . There was a manor and a parish church in the village . The old manor was named in 1551. The rule exercised inheritance and higher jurisdiction. The manor Frauenhain was the ancestral home of the von Pflugk family , who were enfeoffed with it in 1395 and owned Frauenhain until the 18th century. It was acquired by the Royal Saxon Chamberlain von Weissenbach in 1780. Around 1860 it was owned by the von Globig family. Between 1856 and 1875 Frauenhain belonged to the Grossenhain court office and then to the Grossenhain administration . The district size was 1900 with the district Lautendorf together 1651 hectares . In 1925 the population of Frauenhain was divided into 1,168 Evangelical Lutheran residents and three Catholics. In 1952, Frauenhain became part of the district of Riesa , which was formed from the administrative authority and became part of the Riesa-Großenhain district in 1994 . On January 1st of the same year, the four communities Frauenhain, Raden , Koselitz and Pulsen merged to form the new rural community Röderaue.
Place name
Over the centuries there were a number of different spellings of the place name: 1228 "Frowenhain", 1284 "Vrowenhain", 1350 "Vrowenhain", 1406 "Vrauwenhain", 1410 "Frouwenhain", 1495 "Frauen Hayn", 1791 "Frauenhayn".

Buildings
- Waldfriedhof, the old castle cemetery is located near the Frauenhain manor, which was demolished in 1945.
- Gothic village church built in 1375 with a winged altar from around 1510 and the oldest church bell in Saxony.
