Hünnefeld Castle
The Hünnefeld Castle is located in Bad Essen in the east of the Osnabrück district , north of the Mittellandkanal between the districts Harpenfeld and Wehrendorf .
history
Hünnefeld was first mentioned in a document in 1146. A moated castle was built here in the 13th century . There is evidence of an upper and lower castle in the 14th century.
On March 17, 1447, the castle came into the possession of the von dem Bussche family , who had previously owned the nearby Ippenburg Castle . The lines of the Bussche-Ippenburg and the Bussche-Hünnefeld were separated in 1598 through the division of inheritance.
lock
The current mansion was built between 1600 and 1614.
The three-winged main house of the palace complex was built between 1610 and 1613 by the married couple Gerhard Clamor v. dem Bussche (1572–1614) and Hedwig v. Münchhausen (1590–1653), daughter of Hilmar the Elder. J. von Münchhausen , based on the model of Hedwig's parents' house at Schwöbber Castle , with simple early baroque forms being used instead of the Weser Renaissance decor.
Outbuildings
The farm yard is opposite the main building. Here are among other things
- Pigeon tower . The tower, built in 1710, is the most striking building. The white, round tower with a pointed roof has several entry holes for the animals on its outer wall. It is in the area of the first castle , the Uecherer Hof in Hunevelde .
- Old Rentei . It used to be the financial authority and is now used with its two floors as a café with bed and breakfast .
The park
The park borders the palace to the east and was converted into an English landscape garden in its current form in 1840. The connection to the castle is represented by the so-called world island, which is connected to the terrace of the castle as well as to the extensive grounds via a bridge.
