Harpenfeld is one of the 17 districts of the municipality of Bad Essen in the district of Osnabrück in Lower Saxony with around 650 inhabitants.

Harpenfeld is on the B 65 and is separated from Bad Essen to the south by the Wittlager Kreisbahn .

history

The place was first mentioned in a document in 1074. On December 1, 1910, the place had 501 inhabitants. On July 1, 1972, the municipality , which had previously been part of the Wittlage district, was incorporated into the new municipality of Bad Essen as part of the regional reform .

Culture and sights

To the west of the village is Hünnefeld Castle from the 17th century. The village forge and wheelwright shop are located in the east of the district.
