Lintorf is a village on the northern edge of the Wiehengebirge and belongs to the municipality of Bad Essen in the Osnabrück district in Lower Saxony .

history

Lintorf was first mentioned in a document in 1227. During the existence of the Wittlage district, Lintorf was still the seat of the administration of the Lintorf community. In the course of the enlargement of the district of Osnabrück , today's "Altkreis Wittlage" no longer existed. At the same time, the municipality of Lintorf was attached to the municipality of Bad Essen. The municipal administration is still located there today.

The Gothic Church of St. John was built in 1499.

The doctor and writer Hermann Hartmann lived here in the 19th century .

On July 1, 1972, Lintorf was incorporated into the Bad Essen community.

Sports club

The VfL Lintorf is the largest sports club in the area. In addition to gymnastics, football and many other offers, the volleyball department should be highlighted. This has grown rapidly since the late 1980s and is the largest of its kind in Lower Saxony.

The Lintorf (Han) train station is on the Wittlager Kreisbahn . Only museum trains run here. They are operated by the Minden Museum Railway .
