The VfL Lintorf is a sports club from Lintorf (Bad Essen) . VfL is known for its volleyball teams. The men play in the 3rd division west , the women play in the regional league.

As early as the 1970s and 1980s, the volleyball men played several times in the 1st and 2nd Bundesliga. National players Ralph Bergmann and Thomas Kröger also came from Lintorf . In 2010, they were promoted to the second Bundesliga North again, where they had to relegate after only one season. The 2013/14 squad included Philippe Quistorf, a former French international. The volleyball home games have been played at the indoor pool since the new sports hall in Lintorf was completed.

The footballers were promoted to the Osnabrück district class in 1966 and were about to march through to the district league in the following season. However, the Lintorf lost the playoff against TuS Einigkeit Melle with 2: 3. In 1970 VfL secured relegation only after a 6-0 play-off win over TuS Bersenbrück . After several years of relegation battle, the Lintorf team had to go back to the district league in 1975. Two years later, he was promoted to the district class, which was followed in 1979 by relegation to the district league.
After a runner-up behind the Ostercappelner FV in 1989, they were promoted back to the district class in 1991, where VfL was runner-up in 1994 behind TuS Glane . A year later, the Lintorfer rose to the district league, before being relegated to the district class in 1998 and to the district league in 1999. Although the direct promotion to the district class was achieved in 2000, VfL went back to the district league a year later. In the following years the team commuted between the district league and the first district class and, together with SV Wimmer, forms the SG Wimmer / Lintorf syndicate .
