Thomas Kröger (born June 11, 1979 in Melle , Germany ) is a German volleyball and beach volleyball player .
Career hall
Thomas Kröger began his career at his hometown club in Melle, Lower Saxony. He came to the Bundesliga club SV Bayer Wuppertal via Lintorf and Osnabrück . After a stint at VC Bottrop 90 , he went to Belgium , where he reached the cup final in 2004. In 2005 he came back to Germany and played with evivo Düren in the Champions League . In June 2006 he made his debut in the senior national team in Düren . He then moved to the Austrian Champions League participant Aon hotVolleys Vienna . At the World Cup in Japan , he led the German team to ninth place as a Libero. After winning the Austrian championship in 2007, he moved to VfB Friedrichshafen , with whom he made the national double in the 2007/08 season. With the national team, he reached ninth place at the Olympic Games in Beijing in August 2008. In 2009 he was again German champion with VfB Friedrichshafen. After the 2009/10 season he ended his active career with the RWE Volleys Bottrop .
Career Beach
In 2003 and 2004 Kröger played alongside Kay Matysik at national tournaments and was ninth at the German championships in Timmendorf . In 2003 he also had two international appearances with Axel Hager . In 2005 he took part in the World Championships in Berlin with Niklas Rademacher and again finished ninth in the German championships with Gil Ferrer Cutiño . In 2006, Kröger briefly formed a duo with Stefan Hübner . After an eight-year break, Kröger started again on the beach in 2014 with various partners and finished second with Eric Koreng at his last tournament in Rorschach (Switzerland). In 2015 Kröger played with Sebastian Dollinger on the German Smart Beach Tour .
Career coach
From 2010 to 2013 Thomas Kröger was the coach of the second division and third division men's teams of the KMTV Eagles Kiel (until 2012 VT Kiel ) as well as the state coach of the boys in the Schleswig-Holstein volleyball association. Since 2013 he has been a coach at the Danish club Middelfart VK.
