The TuS Glane is a sports club from the Bad Iburg neighborhood Glane in the district of Osnabrück , Lower Saxony . He is known for his successful table tennis department .

history

In 1929 the club DJK Glane was founded. At that time it consisted of football, athletics and gymnastics. In 1935 the DJK sports associations were banned by the Nazi regime. This also affected the DJK Glane, which was renamed TuS Glane . In 1946, on the instructions of the Detmold military government , the club changed its name to VfL Glane-Iburg , before TuS Glane was re-established on July 4, 1949. In March 2017, a planned merger with VfL Bad Iburg to form SC Bad Iburg / Glane failed because the required 75 percent majority was narrowly missed on the Glaner side.

Table tennis

history

The table tennis department was founded in 1969 by Hubert Boymann. Under his direction and with the help of trainer Stefan Rauterberg (until 1993), the women's team rose to the Bundesliga , where it held its ground from 1987 to the mid-1990s. At the same time the 2nd team played in the 2nd Bundesliga. The greatest success was winning the ETTU Nancy Evans Cup in 1992/93 . In the final, Mirjam Hooman , Christiane Praedel and Anke Schreiber defeated the Montpellier team 4-2. A year later Glane reached the final of the ETTU Cup again, but lost to Rot-Weiß Klettham-Erding . At the end of the 2008/09 season, the 1st women's team was withdrawn from the 2nd Bundesliga.

history

After many years at the district level, the TuS Glane footballers were promoted to the district class in 1975 and, two years later, to the district league. After only one season, the Glaner went back down to the district class in 1978, which became their sporting home for the following years. After runners-up in 1991 and 1993 behind TuS Borgloh and Viktoria Georgsmarienhütte , the Glaner managed to return to the district league in 1994. There the TuS had bad luck. Due to a league form, the three district leagues so far became two, so that seventh place was not enough to stay in the league. In 1998, the Glaner reached the promotion round to the district league as runner-up, but failed at Falke Steinfeld . A year later, the TuS rose as champions and made it through to the Weser-Ems regional league in the following 1999/2000 season . Third place in the 2000/01 season meant the athletic zenith of the Glaner, who had to relegate only a year later and in 2004 said goodbye to the district class. In the league reform of 2006, TuS Glane qualified for the district league, from which the team was relegated bottom of the table. Since then, the TuS Glane footballers have been competing in the Osnabrück-Land district league.
