Glane is a district of the city of Bad Iburg in the district of Osnabrück in Lower Saxony . The place is south of the cities of Osnabrück and Georgsmarienhütte in the Teutoburg Forest .
history
Glane existed as a community from January 1, 1970 to June 30, 1972. It was newly formed through the amalgamation of the previous communities of Glane- Visbeck , Ostenfelde and Sentrup and had about 3200 inhabitants when it was founded. On July 1, 1972, the young community was dissolved again and incorporated into the neighboring community of Bad Iburg .
Population development
The community of Glane had 3,237 inhabitants on May 27, 1970, the day of the census . On June 6, 1961, 2822 inhabitants lived in what was later to become the municipality.
traffic
The state road L 97 runs through Glane in a west-east direction from the state border with North Rhine-Westphalia near Lienen to Hilter am Teutoburg Forest and to motorway junction 12 of the A 33 . The L 98 branches off in Glane and leads to Bad Laer .
Attractions
A striking building in the village is the neo-Gothic parish church of St. James the Elder . Between the church and the cemetery stands the war memorial for the fallen of the First World War, framed by memorial plaques for the fallen of the Second World War.
Northeast of Glane is the 220 ha large nature reserve " Freeden ".
