Ostenfelde is a former peasantry and municipality in the district of Osnabrück (Lower Saxony). It has belonged to the city of Bad Iburg since 1972 .

history

A Schultenhof probably already existed in Ostenfelde in the first half of the 9th century. Bishop Benno II of Osnabrück acquired an Ostenfeld farm from the free wife Eila for the Iburg monastery ; Ostenfelde paid tithes to the monastery. Norbert von Iburg , the biographer Benno II, bought three Ostenfeld farms. The purchase is also mentioned in the monastery annals of the Iburg abbot Maurus Rost (1633–1703). In the lifting role of the monastery Herford from the 12th century Ostenfelde was as Villikation called Have field. In 1354 Bishop Johann II. Hoet and the Iburger Abbot Albert exchanged fiefdoms in Ostenfelde. Because of its location on the border of the sphere of influence of the Counts of Tecklenburg and the Osnabrück prince-bishops, Ostenfelde was often the object of conflict. In 1609, Ostenfelde was assigned as part of Glane in a contract between the county of Tecklenburg and the bishopric of Osnabrück to the parish of Glane and thus to the diocese of Osnabrück . From 1802, Ostenfelde belonged to the Kingdom of Prussia and 1807 to the Kingdom of Westphalia . From 1811 on it was under French rule until it went to the Kingdom of Hanover in 1815 . In 1885 Scheventorf Castle and the area of the former Schleppenburg Ostenfelde were added. From 1867 to 1932 Ostenfelde belonged to the Iburg district , which was dissolved and added to the Osnabrück district. In 1937, Ostenfelde lost the area around the train station at Flecken Iburg. Since the end of World War II , Ostenfelde has belonged to the state of Lower Saxony, which was founded in 1946 . In 1970 Ostenfelde, Glane- Visbeck and Sentrup formed the municipality of Glane . This was incorporated into the city of Bad Iburg on July 1, 1972.

education

Ostenfelde had a school since 1819. In 1956 the foundation stone was laid for a primary school. The school was threatened with closure in the early 1990s due to a lack of students, but the number of students grew again. In the 50th year of existence, it had 137 students.

traffic
