History of the club

In 1930 the club was founded as FC Rot-Weiß Klettham as a football club. Because of the Second World War , the number of members fell sharply, which is why the association dissolved on September 15, 1945 and the remaining members joined the SpVgg Altenerding.

On October 4, 1960, the club was re-established under the name 1. FC Rot-Weiß Klettham . At first there was only one football department. In 1962 the branches of cycling, fistball, table tennis and gymnastics were added. This was followed by a stick shooting department on February 10, 1980 and square dance in January 1993.

In 1987 the association changed its name to Rot-Weiß Klettham-Erding eV

Table tennis

Willi Steininger has headed the department since the table tennis division was founded in 1962. In 1981, the women's team was one of the first teams in the newly created 2nd Bundesliga South. She became champions in 1987, but renounced promotion to the Bundesliga . They made up for this in 1989 and finished eighth in the first season. In the years 1991 to 1995 they finished third or fourth. After finishing fifth in the 1995/96 season, the team improved to second place in the two following years. However, they could not prevail in the play-off rounds for the German championship. In 1994, 1996 and 1997 the team won the title in the European ETTU Cup . From 1992 to 1997 the 2nd women's team also played in the 2nd Bundesliga.

In 1999 the women's team was relegated from the Bundesliga. In addition, the financial crisis of the main club also affected the table tennis department. Willi Steininger withdrew, as did several sponsors. Therefore, the team was completely dissolved and table tennis continued as a popular sport in the lower divisions.
