Cornelia Faltermaier

Cornelia "Conny" Faltermaier (born February 11, 1971 in Erding ) is a German table tennis player . She won the German championship in doubles three times .

youth

In 1984 Cornelia Faltermaier won the DTTB-TOP 12 tournament for pupils, a year later she took second place here. In 1985 she was German runner-up in singles, in 1984 and 1985 in doubles. At the German youth championship in 1988 she reached the final, and she won the double competition with Nicole Struse . In the same year she was second in the DTTB-TOP 12 youth tournament. In 1991 she became German Junior Champion.

Adults

At the national German championships in 1990, 1991 and 1994 she won the title in double competition together with Jin-Sook Cords . In 1987 she finished 3rd in the singles. In 1989 she won the national ranking tournament DTTB-TOP-12 , in 1991 she came second.

With Spvg Steinhagen , Faltermaier won the German team championship four times in a row from 1990 to 1993 and the European Champion's Cup in 1992 and 1993 . In 1990 she became the first German player to defeat the Chinese Cao Yanhua in a Bundesliga match.

Because of this success she was nominated twice for a world championship . In 1989 she only played in the individual competitions, in 1991 she made it to the second round in doubles. 1992 played in the individual competitions of the European championship .

From 1990 to 1992 she played six international matches.

In 2002 Cornelia Faltermaier ended her active career. Today (2007) she works as a trainer in the youth sector at TSV Erding.

Cornelia Faltermaier's children Johannes and Theresa are currently (2018) among the Bavarian top in the school area.
