The ruin of Habendorf Castle ( Polish: Zamek w Owieśnie ) is in Owiesno ( Habendorf ) in the powiat Dzierżoniowski in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship in Poland.

history

In addition to the Slavic settlement of Ovesnovo , a German-populated district of Haverdorph emerged in 1292 , which presumably also had a castle. Today's construction goes back to the beginning of the 14th century, when Siegmund von Pogrell had a moated castle built.

After several changes of ownership, the castle was owned by von Bock from the second half of the 16th century. In 1721 von Heyde bought the castle and rebuilt the building in the Baroque style. By marriage in 1797 the castle came to the von Seidlitz family , who modernized the castle and had the moat drained.

After 1945, Polish resettlers were housed in the castle. During a renovation in 1964, the tower collapsed and destroyed the castle building. Then the castle fell into disrepair.

Building

The main castle stood on an almost circular floor plan. Inside there is a trapezoidal courtyard. The free-standing wall of the inner castle is supported by several buttresses. The southern enclosure of the curtain wall with gatehouse and bay windows was built under the von Bock family . The main portal and the mansard roofs are from the Baroque era . The upper part of the tower went up into an octagon on which an openwork onion dome sat.
