Haidenhof Castle

Haidenhof Castle is a castle in the independent city of Passau . The names of the former community Haidenhof and the current Passau districts Haidenhof North and Haidenhof South come from its predecessor, the Haidenhof .

location

Haidenhof Castle is located on Neuburger Strasse in the Haidenhof Süd district.

history

In 1614 the farm belonged to a Wolf Hayll. This Hayllhof later became Haynhof and finally Haidenhof. This is where the inn and the little castle, which the Passau canon Vigil Graf von Thun built in 1685 , stood. It was given its current form in 1790 by the court building director Johann Georg Hagenauer when it was redesigned into a hunting lodge for the canon Leopold Freiherrn von Hanxleden .

Building description

The castle has two floors and five axes, with the three central axes protruding somewhat. In the central axis is the arched portal, which is flanked by pilaster strips that support an architrave . The windows in the basement are half-windows.

In the garden there is a group of fountains from the second half of the 19th century, consisting of four children. The outbuildings, an L-shaped farm building and the servants' house, were built in the early 19th century.
