Harlaching Castle was a castle on Harlachinger Berg next to St. Anna Church above Munich's Hellabrunn Zoo .

history

The first written mention of the place can be found around 1150 as "Hadaleichingen". The old town center was around St.-Anna-Kircherl on Harlachinger Berg, which was first guaranteed in writing in 1186 as belonging to the Tegernsee Monastery . The few houses were surrounded by forests and meadows. The castle was built near the church shortly after 1700 by Baron Markus Christoph von Mayr based on plans by Enrico Zuccalli . The waterfalls in the palace gardens ended at the foot of the mountain in 25 fountains near the Marienklause . Harlaching became the seat of a court under the war chancellery director Markus Christoph von Mayr . The castle was damaged by fire in 1796 and was also affected by the fire on September 18, 1800. It no longer exists today.

The court justice was converted into a patrimonial court in 1818 , which also included Geiselgasteig , Harthausen, Hellabrunn , Laufzorn , Siebenbrunn and Wörnbrunn . The remnants of the aristocracy were abolished in 1848.

In 1865 the Bavarian King Ludwig I , who resigned in 1848, donated a memorial with an inscription to the French painter Claude Lorrain on the former castle grounds, as it was erroneously assumed that he had lived at Harlaching Castle for some time.
