Ibm Castle
Of the former Ibm Castle , only a castle stable in the Ibm district of Eggelsberg in the Braunau district is left today. The facility itself was on Ibmer Berg (also called Schloss- or Pankratiusberg), above the village of Ibm; A prehistoric hilltop settlement (Neolithic, Bronze Age) is assumed to be the predecessor.
history
The castle was the ancestral seat of the Ibmer (Ibner). Wichart de Idina , documented in 1070, is the first representative of this family known by name. This family died out around 1280; Ibm was then drafted and fortified by the Bavarian duke. In 1303 the Grans (Grams) from Uttendorf were enfeoffed with Ibm. In 1379 Egkart Tanner received the castle as a fief. The Tanner stayed here until 1450. This was followed by Andreas Loder , Bavarian Chancellor, who subsequently received the castle for his services; he had the castle built from scratch. In 1503 Wolf Sonderndorffer succeeded Ibm. In 1564 Rosina von Sonderndorff received Ibm as marriage property and brought it into her marriage to Hanns Sigmund Jagenrewter von Pernau . A plaque with an alliance coat of arms on the castle farm attests to this marriage. In 1575 the castle was also renovated. As a result, the Counts of Tauffkirchen bought Ibm; they remained the owners of the castle until 1872. After the Baptist Church followed Heinrich Planck von Planckburg; this sold Ibm to the Ferdinand baron von Moreau. In 1898 Ibm came into civil ownership (Gebrüder Glaser) and in 1915 to a stock corporation.
The castle was said to have been in disrepair since 1816. It was then removed at the time of the First World War , with the material of the castle supposedly being used in road construction.
Ibm Castle today
Small remains of the surrounding wall (about 1 meter high) can be seen in the area. The moat and ramparts as well as a ravine to the castle can still be seen in the area.
A path up the hill is not signposted. But you can go from the Maria-Hilf-Chapel in Ibm to the castle farm and from there find an overgrown path to the castle hill.
