Krzyżanowice Castle
The neo-Gothic Kreuzenort Castle (Polish: Krzyżanowice , in the powiat Raciborski , Silesian Voivodeship ) was a meeting place for important personalities of the Silesian nobility and the German cultural scene in the 19th century.
history
The castle was built in 1700 by Count Johann Bernhard Praschma from the Catholic Moravian noble family Praschma (Pražma in Czech). After his death in 1708 it came into the possession of Baron Karl Gabriel von Wengersky (1667–1736).
From November 22nd, 1775 the castle became the property of the noble Silesian - Moravian family Lichnowsky .
Ludwig van Beethoven stayed at Schloss Kreuzenort from 1794 to 1796 and Franz Liszt and Joseph von Eichendorff from 1843 to 1848 .
On behalf of Prince Karl Lichnowsky (1819–1901), the castle was rebuilt in the English neo-Gothic style and a gate building was built according to the design of the architect Carl Johann Boguslaw Lüdecke (1826–1894) .
In 1860 an octagonal tower on a square base and a knight's hall were built in the southeast corner of the palace. Octagonal bastions were added to the other corners. Typical neo-Gothic details were used in the renovation.
In 1930 Prince Wilhelm von Lichnowsky (* 1905) sold the castle to the Catholic Order of the Franciscan Order, who built their monastery and a charity there. Since then, the castle has remained the property of the Franciscan Order and is now called the "Rose Palace". The chapel is located in the knight's hall.
The castle was registered on June 2, 1969 under A / 1043/65 in the register of architectural monuments of the Silesian Voivodeship.
