The Mupperg castle was built in its present form in 1750 in South Thuringia Mupperg . It has been used as a senior citizens ' residence by the Arbeiterwohlfahrt since 2012 .

history

In the years 1525/26 Christoffel von Schaumberg had a "large stone Kemnat ", which was protected by a moat, built in Mupperg. The rulership of the village was held by Georg Heinrich von Redwitz from 1671 to 1691 , followed by Christoph Caspar von Speßhardt around 1692 . The son Wilhelm Ernst Friedrich von Speßhardt had the old moated castle demolished in 1720. In its place a new castle was built in 1750, which was surrounded by water on three sides until the end of the 19th century. After the death of Bernhard von Speßhardt, the manor was sold in 1869 and the palace was acquired in 1871 by the Sonneberg district , who used the building as a district poor house. At the beginning of the 20th century, it was converted into a district care home. For this purpose, an extension was built in the east in 1924, perpendicular to the main building, and a renovation was carried out. After the Second World War , the district nursing home had 100 places. In the 1970s, the extension was converted and expanded. In the mid-1990s, the residential and nursing home that had been taken over by the Arbeiterwohlfahrt had 80 places. After years of vacancy, the Arbeiterwohlfahrt had it converted from 2010 to 2012 into a senior citizens' residence with 16 places. For this purpose, the extensions were demolished and replaced by a new building on the rear, parallel to the main building.

architecture

The listed baroque palace is in a park. The two-storey building has a rectangular floor plan with nine by three axes. On a solid ground floor with strong corner pilasters there is a plastered half-timbered floor , which is closed off by a mansard hipped roof with dormer windows . The entrance portal is arranged in the symmetrically designed west facade in the middle of the building. It is flanked by Ionic pilasters and finished with a cranked cornice. The inscription "WEFVS / 1750" is located above the segment arched door lintel. The entrance hall and the stairwell are behind the portal.
