The Castle Niederkreuzstetten is in the north of the town Niederkreuzstetten in the market town Kreuzstetten in the district of Mistelbach in Lower Austria . The castle is under monument protection ( list entry ).

history

A castle was mentioned in a document in 1265. During the Reformation, the castle was owned by the Prandt von Prandeck rule. From 1622 to 1881 owned by the Counts of Hoyos .

The west wing is from the 16th century, the other wings are from the 17th century. The castle was partially rebuilt in the 18th century under Hoyos. Further structural changes were made in 1891.

architecture

The mighty, irregular four-wing building is enclosed by a wide defensive moat with defensive walls with supporting pillars and has a surrounding park. In the east, the castle is accessed via the moat with a four-arched stone bridge. The bridge has chronograms with 1680 and 1795 on the parapet, the bridge's own portal wall shows plaster blocks.
