Puchstein Castle
Puchstein Castle is located in the municipality of Puch bei Hallein (Schlossweg 15) in the political district of Hallein in the state of Salzburg .
history
The fact that the Lords of Guetrat are said to have been based on Puchstein as early as the 10th century goes back to a legend according to which there was supposedly an underground passage from Guetrat Castle to Puchstein. But nothing of this has been proven and the implied claim that the passage under the Salzach passed through is an improbable fiction.
Puchstein is first mentioned in documents in 1473 in the possession of Hans Strasser von Puchstein. The next owner is a Hans Kropf, "sat at Puech", who is mentioned in a hereditary comparison with Leonhard Lantzing . 1609 Hans Kronperger hands of the Church in the Castle Puch who it to future subjects to inheritance gives. In the 18th century, the building was "stuck" into seven parts with different owners (division into floors and "floors"). This split is still preserved today.
Puchstein Castle today
Puchstein Castle is a cube-shaped building with a moat roof behind raised gable walls. This makes the building stand out from the surrounding buildings with saddle and crooked roofs. In the three-storey facades, the late Gothic window frames made of red marble can still be seen in part. Top are near the wall crown loopholes attached. On the north side there is a tower-like extension, which also dates from the time it was built. A ground floor extension has recently been added to the southwest corner, which contradicts the character of the house.
