Kahlsperg Castle
Castle Kahlsperg located in the municipality Oberalm in the district Hallein in Salzburg (Kahlspergstraße 24). It is listed and has the object ID 4956.
history
The name "Kahlsperg", which is common today, is derived from the Styrian family of "Chalasperger (Chalhochsperger, Kalchsberger)", who appear in Salzburg documents from 1250 to the 15th century. Ortlof von Chalochsperge was Vogt of the Salzburg Cathedral Chapter and Admont Abbey . He fell out with Archbishop Friedrich von Walchen and was besieged by him at his Moosham Castle. In 1281 he had to capitulate and was expelled from the country. Ortolf's son Wulfing is the Goldegger's name, which suggests that the Kahlsperger were related to the Lords of Goldegg, who were also involved in a feud with the Archbishop of Salzburg at that time . In the 14th century the Kahlsperger were resident in Oberalm, as Wulfing von Obernalbm received the Wittumsgut Rosenawe from Pastor Eckhart von Hallein in 1338 . In 1368 Bishop Friedrich vom Chiemsee confirmed that Ulrich der Chalensperger had given his daughters an estate near the Nockstein . Further Kahlsperger appear in the 15th century as archbishop officials who were probably only the castle keepers on Kahlsperg.
From the middle of the 15th century Kahlsperg belonged to the Nussdorfern . They had the seat rebuilt in its current form. In 1507 Leonhart Lantzing lived here at "Kalaschperg". In 1532 David von Nussdorf, hereditary marshal and keeper of Tittmoning , sold the residence to Leonhard Harder, imperial counterhandler of the salt and takers' office in Gmunden . His heirs sold Kahlsperg to Hans Panicher von Wolkensdorf in 1570. This was followed by Viktor Christalnigg in 1604 and Wolf Sigmund von Haunsperg in 1612 . Franz Rudolf von Haunsperg sold the property to Katharina von Lodron in 1637 . In 1638 this received permission to incorporate the residence and the park into the Lodron Primogenitur Entity Commission.
In 1812 Kahlsperg was removed from the Fideikommiss and sold to Johann B. Maffei. In 1829 his son Peter Paul von Maffei entered the land register as the sole owner. This was followed in 1831 by Johanna Karl, née von Maffei. This sold the property to Ernst Graf Coreth in 1836. Other owners were: Anton Gimpl and Katharina Pertinger (1846), Kajetan and Elise Mayr von Mayregg (1852), Kajetan Schneeberger (1860), Anton von Walterskirchen (1861), Moritz, Flora and Johanna von Walterskirchen (1872), Adolf Wolff ( 1873), Maurice Graf Ressequier de Miremont (1874), Natalie Schimpf (1878 by auction), Otto Wilhelm Freiherr von Walterskirchen and his wife Karoline (1893), Josef Wilhelm Graf Walterskirchen and Freiherr von Wolfsthal (1913). Josef Wilhelm and his wife Ladislaja von Walterskirchen handed over the entire property in 1952 in return for a life annuity to the Hallein Franciscan Sisters , who set up an old people's home there.
Kahlsperg Castle today
The castle was originally a moated castle or a residential tower surrounded by moats. In the 19th century the dried up pond was still there. The moat leading around the castle can be seen in the Franziszeischen cadastre . The castle is five-story with four window axes and four attached corner turrets. A horseshoe-shaped system was created with the outbuildings. 1966–1968 the original structure was completely destroyed by renovations. Today it is unclear whether the building history dates back to the 15th or 14th century. The former farm yard fell victim to the extension of the old people's home. A porch with a glazed corridor to the main building was erected in front of the castle, which obstructs the view of the castle. The park has gates with square pillars and bars.
Until 2017, the Hallein school sisters were the legal entities behind the senior citizens' residence at Schloss Kahlsperg. Today Casa Leben im Alter and Caritas Salzburg are the sponsors of the nursing home.
