The Saxental Castle (also referred Prunhof) was located in the municipality Saxen in District Perg of Upper Austria .

history

A fortress of Sechssen is mentioned as early as 1380; However, this is not identical to Saxental Castle. The place where this castle could have stood is also not known. The corresponding princely fiefdom is said to have belonged to Wilhelm and Wolfgang Hauser. Then the seat went to the Wolfensteiner von Kleinzell . Of these, a Gilg (1421), an Ottokar (1430) and a Wolfgang (1460) are named as the last of his family. Then the fortress fell to Emperor Friedrich III. back who gave them to the Prueschenks. Christoph Perger followed them. Under these the castle fell into disrepair.

In 1648 the Prun (n) hof (Brunnhof), owned by the Perger von Clam family, was raised to a noble seat and was given the name Saxental. This castle-like building remained with the Clam rule , but degenerated into a farm . This was demolished at the end of the last century. In its place you can find a small chapel today.

House Saxen No. 3, formerly the retirement home of Count Clam, today the so-called Doctor's House, is said to be on the former castle grounds.
