The Seedorf Castle is the former mansion of the goods Seedorf on Schaalsee .

history

Gut Seedorf was a noble estate in the Duchy of Saxony-Lauenburg . The noble families von Seedorf, von Brockdorff , Scharpenberg and von Lützow were among his early owner families . Seedorf sold the Lützow to the von Witzendorff family shortly after they had acquired the neighboring Groß Zecher estate. Seedorf remained in the possession of the Witzendorffs until the end of the 19th century. With the death of District Administrator Ottokar von Witzendorff in 1890, Seedorf went to his widow Ida, née Lindemann, who passed it on to her family after her death in 1928.

From 1891 to 1893 the manor house in front of the Seedorfer Werder was completely rebuilt in the style of historicism by Ida von Witzendorff. The plans were provided by the architect Ernst Möller , who had previously built Schwerin's main train station . The house shows the neo-Renaissance formal language, which is rather untypical for Schleswig-Holstein .

The associated farm was given up in 1972 and the land was sold to the state of Schleswig-Holstein.
