The Stammheim Castle was 1579-1581 by the court architect Heinrich Schickhardt on behalf of Messrs Schertlin Burtenbach built. The three-wing complex with a stair tower is in the center of the Stammheim district in the north of Stuttgart . It is located around one hundred meters northwest of the Johanniskirche.
The last knight in Stammheim had the castle built, after which the property went into the possession of a baroness, then a merchant and then a manufacturer.
Todays use
A retirement home since 1882, the palace, which was extensively renovated in 2002, is now used as a retirement home by the Evangelical Retirement Home Foundation .
