Svaneholm Castle is located in Skurup about 40 kilometers east of the Swedish city of Malmö in the province of Skåne .

Around 1530, under Mourids Jespen Sparre, a brick castle was built on an island in Svaneholmssjö . A short time later it was expanded in the Renaissance style. At the end of the 17th century, Axel Gyllenstierna had the east wing added and rebuilt in the Italian Baroque style. After that, no major changes were made, only the moat surrounding the castle was filled in in the 19th century.

After the death of the last owner in 1935, the Heimatverein bought the castle. It has been a listed building as Byggnadsminne since 1968 . Today it houses a museum and a restaurant.
