The Castle Unterknöringen is Unterknöringen , a district of Burgau in the Swabian district of Günzburg .

history

The first mention of the moated castle Knöringen as a royal fiefdom is in the year 1146. Since 1197 the lords of Knöringen in Unterknöringen are attested, who were resident in the place until the 15th century. After 1671 the place was subordinate to the realm of Wettenhausen . In 1750 Johann Anton von Freyberg-Eisenberg acquired Unterknöringen and the castle, which is still owned by the baronial family today. In 1994 the old coach house burned down and was rebuilt in the old style. In 2003, the palace with the coach house and park were extensively renovated.

construction

The castle is a rectangular three-storey gable roof building with a gable-sided main entrance, an entrance hall located in the longitudinal axis and a staircase shifted to the side. It is surrounded by a large park with a pond in the western part.
