Vollenschier Castle

The Castle Vollenschier is a castle-like house in Vollenschier , one for Stendal district Wittenmoor belonging village in Saxony-Anhalt .

History and architecture

The building, also known as the Vollenschier mansion , was built in 1869 for the von Kröchern siblings based on a design by the renowned Hanoverian architect Conrad Wilhelm Hase . To Gutsanlage also includes the nearby Gutskirche Vollenschier , also designed by Hare, and the manor Vollenschier .

The building was created as a historic brick building with sparing neo-Gothic elements. Two full floors and an attic rise above a towering basement. The facade is distributed asymmetrically of three, and the width and depth different projections divided.

On the west wing of the house is a terrace lined with arches and columns . Inside, stucco ceilings and old doors and windows have been preserved. The upper floor is kept simpler. A landscaped park with a pond borders the west and south sides of the building.

The house was inhabited until around 1990 and has been empty since then. It is currently (as of 2010) in need of renovation.
