Vollenschier is a district of the Stendal village of Wittenmoor in the Altmark in Saxony-Anhalt .

The village is located southwest of Wittenmoor on the northern edge of the Colbitz-Letzlinger Heide .

history

The name of the place is of German origin. A first written reference in 1251 as Wolenschere (meaning: wool Scherer ), indicating that operated here sheep breeding and use. There was also a noble von Vollenschier family in the village . However, the knights Vollenschier were soon no longer resident. In 1626 the family died out. In 1391 Vollenschier was desolate and was rebuilt by residents from Staats and Börgitz . To protect against raids, the Kröpelwarte was built in 1409 and a rampart stretching from Klinke to Ottersburg was reinforced. While the remains of the wall near Vollenschier are still preserved today, the Kröpelwarte was demolished in 1834. In 1484 Gebhard von Alvensleben received Vollenschier as a fief. He let a Vorwerk and create the Good Vollenschier later.

Vollenschier then often changed hands. From the 18th century, Oberamtmann Giesecke , Adolf von Miakowskie and, most recently, Friedrich Wilhelm Karl von Kröchern have been handed down as owners . The von Kröchern family owned the property from 1854 to 1907. The Vollenschier manor, which is still preserved today, was built in the middle of the 18th century. Vollenschier had its own school. 1869 is bundled with Good Castle Vollenschier and 1875-1877 the Gutskirche Vollenschier built.

From 1870 there was a brickworks not far from the village that processed loam extracted on site into stones. In 1910 the place had 133, 1933 153 and 1939 143 inhabitants.

On April 1, 1910, the rural community Vollenschier was converted into an estate district. On September 30, 1928, the manor district Vollenschier was combined with the state parish to form the state parish. As early as May 1, 1932, the rural community Vollenschier was newly formed from the district Vollenschier of the rural community Staats. On January 1, 1957, the municipality Vollenschier was dissolved by incorporation into the municipality of Wittenmoor.

During the Second World War , refugees from Duisburg found shelter in the village. The population rose at times to over 300 people. In the summer of 1945 the property was expropriated and continued as a public property . On January 1, 1957, Vollenschier was incorporated into Wittenmoor. After the end of the GDR , the estate was initially stopped in 1990/1991. The property was later privatized and used again for agriculture from 2004.

In 2010 it was incorporated into Stendal together with Wittenmoor.
