Börgitz belongs to the village of Uchtspringe and is a district of the Hanseatic city of Stendal in the Stendal district in Saxony-Anhalt .

geography

Börgitz, a street village , is just under two kilometers east of Uchtspringe, 17 kilometers southwest of Stendal an der Uchte in the Altmark . The Altmarkrundkurs cycle path leads through the village .

Neighboring places are Wilhelmseiche and Wendisch Börgitz in the west, Volgfelde in the northeast, Staats in the east and Vollenschier in the southeast.

In addition to the village of Börgitz, the district of Börgitz also includes the Wendisch Börgitz and Wilhelmseiche residential areas.

history

The first mention of Börgitz comes from the year 1278 as borevyz , when the margraves Johann , Otto and Konrad confirmed the ownership of the village and income of 30 bushels of rye including the mill to the Neuendorf monastery, among other income and possessions . Other Entries to 1345 Boruiz , 1650 Börritzsch , 1687 Borgitz , and in 1804 the village Börgitz or Börritz with a Rademacher , a forge, a water mill and a pitcher .

The children from Börgitz used to go to school in Staats. The first school was built in 1888, a new school complex was built in 1956. After a renovation, a new elementary school was inaugurated in 2006. After the renovation of the new elementary school, the “Uchtespatzen” daycare center moved into the building of the old elementary school. In 2007 a new children's center was inaugurated on the primary school grounds, where children between the ages of 0 and 6 are looked after.

Origin of the place name

Franz Mertens calls the mentions 1278 borevyz and 1487 Börgitz Slavic and lists the meanings: buor for pine and vitz for place . So the place is called Kieferndorf .

Incorporations

In 1900, 214.4 hectares were separated from the districts of Börgitz and Staats, from which the independent manor district of Uchtspringe was formed. On October 17, 1928, the Uchtspringe manor district was converted into a rural community Uchtspringe with the stipulation that the Wilhelmseiche exclave near Börgitz was merged with the rural community Börgitz.

On 25 July 1952, the community was Börgitz the district Gardelegen in the district Stendal reclassified. On January 1, 1957, the municipality of Börgitz was incorporated into the municipality of Uchtspringe.

With the incorporation of the municipality of Uchtspringe into the Hanseatic city of Stendal on January 1, 2010, the district of Börgitz became part of Stendal and the new village of Uchtspringe.

religion

The Protestant Christians from Börgitz used to be parish in the Staats parish. Today they are supervised by the parish area Kloster Neuendorf in the parish of Salzwedel in Propst Sprengel Stendal Magdeburg of the Evangelical Church in Central Germany .

The Catholic Christians belong to the parish of St. Hildegard in Gardelegen in the Stendal deanery in the diocese of Magdeburg .

Culture and sights

  • The Mühlenhof Börgitz with the fulling mill and watermill and a house in the village are under monument protection.
  • In the Heimatstube in Börgitz, which is open for special events, the development of the Uchtspringe community is shown with the help of documents and pictures.
  • In Börgitz there is a memorial for the fallen of the First and Second World Wars, a light-colored obelisk on a pedestal with a sculpture of an eagle with outstretched wings on it. In front of the base is a boulder with the inscription for the victims of the Second World War.
