history

Gohres was first mentioned in a document in 1290, although the place is older. The Gohre village church dates back to the first half of the 12th century. The place name is of Wendish origin and is derived from Gora (German: Höhe / Berg).

Gohre was the ancestral home of the von Gohre family, whose descendants, as barons of Gor, later settled in Bavaria . In 1620 the von Kläden family took over the knight's seat.

Originally the village was laid out round. After a major fire in 1823, however, the type of investment was changed. The population of the place was between 1840 and 1910 quite evenly about 200. Gohre was an independent municipality and a parish village. On July 1, 1950, it was incorporated into Dahlen . The community center of this community was in Gohre. On September 1, 2010, Gohre and Dahlen became part of Stendal.
