Jarchau is a district of the district town of Stendal in the Stendal district in Saxony-Anhalt .
geography
The place is only 7 km north of Stendal and has recently become a kind of residential suburb of the district town through the development of building areas.
history
The place was first mentioned in a document in 1238 . The Protestant church of Jarchau, built around 1200 and presumably consecrated to St. Andreas , is a small Romanesque field stone hall with a retracted choir . On September 30, 1928, the Jarchau manor district, with the exception of the Glänemäker Vorwerk, was combined with the Jarchau rural community. The Glänemäker sheep farm, founded in 1835, was merged with the rural community of Sanne on September 30, 1928 . The once politically independent municipality was incorporated into the district town of Stendal on January 1, 2005 .
