Buchholz is a district of the district town of Stendal in Saxony-Anhalt (Germany).

geography

Buchholz in the south-east of the Altmark lies on the Tangermünder-Buchholzer ridge, which towers over the valleys by up to 40 meters between the Uchte and the Tangier . The Bucholz district is about eight kilometers from downtown Stendal.

history

The Romanesque church of the village was built around 1140. The place Buchholz was first mentioned in a chronicle in 1209.

Thanks to its convenient location on the Magdeburg – Stendal road connection , Buchholz has become an attractive place to live in recent years and several new homes have been built.

Until December 31, 2009, Buchholz was an independent municipality.

By means of an area change agreement, the municipal council of the Buchholz community decided on June 9, 2009 that the Buchholz community should be incorporated into the city of Stendal. This contract was approved by the county as the lower local supervisory authority and came into effect on January 1, 2010.

After the incorporation of the previously independent municipality of Buchholz, Buchholz became a district of the city of Stendal.
