Location in Saxony-Anhalt

Wilhelmshof belongs to the village of Uchtspringe and is a district of the Hanseatic city of Stendal in Saxony-Anhalt .

geography

Wilhelmshof, a small settlement, is located in the middle of a forest area about 3 kilometers northwest of Uchtspringe and 20 kilometers southwest of Stendal in the Uchtspringe-Deetz district on the western edge of the Stendal district in the Altmark .

history

The Wilhelmshof was built as a sheep farm and Vorwerk in 1808 by Rittmeister Scheiter. In 1842 there was a report on the Wilhelmshof sheep farm with a farm on the heath.

The yard with an area of 110 acres was bought by the "Drinking Sanatorium Association for the Province of Saxony and the Duchy of Anhalt" and the "Drinking Sanatorium Kurhaus Wilhelmshof" was built. On May 21, 1909, the drinking sanctuary association invited to the inauguration of the newly founded drinking sanctuary Wilhelmshof near Uchtspringe.

For the admission of alcoholics, an application for admission had to be sent to the board of directors of the drinking sanctuary association or to the management of the Wilhelmshof. The cost of accommodation for patients in the first class was initially 5 marks per day, those in the second class paid 2 marks per day. Because it was believed that physical activity was a cure, inmates had to commit to work. They worked in the forest, in the field, in the garden, on the farm, in stables and barns as well as in workshops (locksmith's shop, shoemaker's shop, tailoring, upholstery, carpentry and basket weaving). From 9 p.m., the rule was bed rest. On the weekends there were devotions and a main service every 14 days.

In 2015 the place hit the headlines nationwide because a child was kidnapped at a party at the barbecue area and has been missing since then.

Incorporations

The Vorwerk Wilhelmshof formerly belonged to the municipality of Deetz in the district of Gardelegen . In 1908, areas were reclassified from the Deetz district to the Uchtspringe manor district, to which the Vorwerk Wilhelmshof belonged, which was subsequently listed in the local registers as a place to live. In 1986, Wilhelmshof was then run as a district of the municipality of Uchtspringe, as was the case in 2008. Since Uchtspringe was incorporated into the Hanseatic city of Stendal on January 1, 2010, the district of Wilhelmshof belongs to Stendal and the new village of Uchtspringe.
