Volgfelde is a district of the district town of Stendal in Saxony-Anhalt (Germany).

geography

The Stendal district on the upper Uchte is located between Gardelegen and the district town of Stendal in the southern Altmark . The foothills of the Colbitz-Letzlinger Heide , the largest contiguous heather area in Central Europe, extend west of Volgfelde .

geology

The location is on a slightly glacial terrain on the transition between Sander and glacial valley. This position results in a very different quality of usable soils.

history

In 1191 the place was first mentioned as Folckfelde in an old script. The Volgfeld stone church probably dates from this time. It was renovated in the early 1990s.

Until December 31, 2009, Volgfelde was an independent municipality.

On June 18, 2009, the municipal council of the municipality of Volgfelde decided that the municipality of Volgfelde should be incorporated into the city of Stendal. This contract was approved by the county as the lower local supervisory authority and came into effect on January 1, 2010.

After the incorporation of the previously independent municipality of Volgfelde, Volgfelde became a district of the city of Stendal. For the incorporated municipality, the local constitution was introduced according to §§ 86 ff. Of the municipality code of Saxony-Anhalt . The incorporated municipality of Volgfelde is now a district of the city of Stendal, in which a local council with five members including the mayor was formed.

A local driveway onto the main road is not planned. Regular buses and on-call buses run by Regionalverkehr Westsachsen (RVW) under the brand name stendalbus .
