Staats is a district of the district town of Stendal in Saxony-Anhalt (Germany).

geography

The town of Staats on the southern edge of the Altmark is located in the headwaters of the Uchte and is around 20 kilometers from downtown Stendal. The Staatser Bauernheide in the south and southwest of the municipality is part of the northern Colbitz-Letzlinger Heide , which is largely used as a military training area. In this area the terrain rises to 112 m above sea level. NHN . The southern tip of the Staats district borders on the Börde district .

history

In 1232 a Vethene in the state district was mentioned for the first time and then in 1233 in a document from Count Siegfried von Osterburg , when he transferred the village to the Neuendorf monastery. This Vethene probably fell desolate around 1250 .

The village of Staats was first mentioned in 1254 as Stazcits .

The watermill in Staats has existed since 1335 and is still in operation today for display purposes. The brick-built village church Staats was built in 1880/1881.

Until the withdrawal in the early 1990s, there was a barracks of the Soviet / Russian troops in Staats . There were anti-aircraft missile units and a motorized rifle regiment.

Until December 31, 2009, Staats was an independent municipality with the associated district settlement.

On June 15, 2009, the municipal council of the municipality of Staats decided that the municipality of Staats should be incorporated into the city of Stendal. This contract was approved by the county as the lower local supervisory authority and came into effect on January 1, 2010.

After the incorporation of the previously independent municipality of Staats, Staats became a district of the city of Stendal. For the incorporated municipality, the local constitution was introduced according to §§ 86 ff. Of the municipality code of Saxony-Anhalt . The incorporated municipality of Staats and future district of Staats became the locality of the receiving city of Stendal. A local council with five members, including the local mayor, was formed in the incorporated municipality and now Staats.

Transport links

North of Staats, the most important east-west connection in the north of Saxony-Anhalt is federal highway 188 ( Burgdorf - Stendal ). The B 188 still ran through the town until mid-2007.

Regular buses and on-call buses run by Regionalverkehr Westsachsen (RVW) under the brand name stendalbus . The nearest train stations are in the neighboring towns of Uchtspringe and Vinzelberg ( Hanover – Stendal – Berlin line ).
